How to protect teeth during Halloween - Candy eating tips

Come Halloween and there is lots of candy to eat. How ever you should take precautions if you want to save your teeth in the long run. Here are top 7 tips.

1. Eat only that foods that are easily chewable and are not sticky in the mouth. Sticky candy remains on the teeth longer. The longer it remains on teeth, the more chances of it causing tooth decay.

2. Always eat sweets after eating other food.

3. Eat sweets in small quantities and make sure you are properly digesting the candy.

4. Brush and floss your teeth twice a day. Use toothpaste that contains floride to add an extra layer of protection of the teeth. Spend some time on the teeth along the sides and in the back. Brush away from your gums.

5. Use a brush that suits your teech. Brushes come in 3 varieties: Soft, Medium and Hard. Use the one that you are comfortable with.

6. Don't neglect gum bleeding or swelling of gums when you brush or floss your teeth. Immediately seek professional guidance.

7. Drink at least 2 litres of water daily. Avoid chilled sweets, cold water and other chilled foods.
